Alexander Zverev has found himself at the centre of a practice-court controversy at the Shanghai Masters 2026 after a fan alleged that the German arrived late for a scheduled training session and continued practising, forcing Ben Shelton and Cruz Hewitt to move to another court.

The incident drew attention on social media after a post on Chinese platform Rednote described how Shelton and Hewitt allegedly lost access to Court 5, where they were scheduled to practise at noon. A separate post by a user who said they witnessed the incident supported the account, saying the events described were true, with the following video.
