By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Sept. 29: Nepal Police has started setting up 'Citizen Passenger Help Desks' at major entry points across the country ahead of the upcoming festive season. The initiative aims to curb passenger exploitation and reduce road accidents during the peak travel period.
According to Nepal Police Headquarters, as every year programme, with the approach of festive season nearer, the Nepal Police will set up its help desk in major border points and city areas.
According to central police spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General Abi Narayan Kafle, the desks will monitor ticketing practices, fares and passenger safety during the festive period, when the movement of people and vehicles increases sharply.
Deputy Superintendent of Traffic Police (DSP) Sunil Jung Shah at the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office said police would step up monitoring to prevent ticket black marketing and the practice of carrying passengers beyond the seat capacity of vehicles. Last year, police had set up such help desks in 15 different places of the Valley.
