The Singapore Grand Prix 2026 will go ahead as planned, but Formula 1 teams and fans are heading into the race weekend with two weather-related concerns to deal with. The FIA has declared a Heat Hazard for both the Sprint and the Grand Prix after the official weather service forecast that the heat index could exceed 31°C during either session. At the same time, Singapore is dealing with haze from fires in Indonesia, with air quality across the city-state currently in the unhealthy range.

The FIA’s heat warning was issued by Race Director Rui Marques on Thursday, October 8. The official document said the declaration had been made under Article B1.5.10 of the FIA Formula 1 Regulations after the forecast indicated that the heat index would exceed 31.0°C at some point during the Sprint or race.

The heat hazard means teams must prepare for the additional physical demands placed on drivers by the hot and humid conditions. Singapore is already regarded as one of the most physically demanding races on the F1 calendar, and the 2026 weekend will be even busier with the circuit hosting its first-ever Sprint.

Singapore Grand Prix Faces Haze Concerns

Alongside the heat, haze has emerged as another concern ahead of the opening practice session on Friday.
