Flydubai co-pilot Hamam al-Hammami allegedly told investigators after an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia that he wanted to deliberately crash the aircraft and was “not afraid of death”, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The 29-year-old Omani national is being investigated over his alleged radicalisation and how he was able to return to aviation despite authorities previously being aware of his extremist interests.

What Was Hamam Al-Hammami’s Aviation History?

Hammami previously worked for state-owned Oman Air, where he was reportedly removed from flying duties after authorities discovered that he had visited extremist websites.
