KATHMANDU: Police have released former Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana on Sunday.

Rana, who was arrested from his residence at midnight without a warrant, has been released without authorities disclosing the reason for his arrest.

According to a source, Rana was arrested at the direct order of Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s Secretariat.

SP Rameshwor Karki, spokesperson for the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, said that arrangements are being made to handover him to his family.
