By Janarjan Khatri,Sarlahi, Oct. 2: The buying and selling of goats has started in markets across Sarlahi with Dashain festival approaching. Farmers from rural areas have begun bringing goats they raised throughout the year to the markets to earn money for Dashain expenses. Traders said the trade is expected to increase at the weekly markets in the coming days.
Goats are traded at four major markets in Sarlahi-Lalbandi, Bayalbas, Hariwan and Barahathwa. A large number of farmers brought goats to the district’s main market in Lalbandi on Monday to raise money for Dashain expenses.
Farmers traditionally sell goats during Dashain to cover household expenses for the festival. Uddhav Thapa of Gharibathan in Ishwarpur Municipality-12, a Chure-area settlement, said he had brought goats to the market as Dashain was approaching.
