Google Outage Today: Problems are being reported by Google and Gemini users on October 8, with the issues ranging from slowness to logins not working, to unavailable services. Gemini users especially have been reporting an issue where the AI is failing to generate anything and some users have lost their conversations.

As based on the most recent user report breakdown of Gemini, issues related to AI generation comprise 69% of the complaints, hence, being the largest category of reported issues. Website issues make up 13% of complaints, whereas application issues constitute 12%. There are user reports of service disruption for Google in a number of countries as well. User reports received on October 8th include slow speed and login issues experienced by US users, as well as unavailability of Google in Japan, Belgium and New Zealand.

These reports do not establish that Google Search or every Google service is experiencing a widespread outage however, they indicate that users are encountering problems across parts of Google’s broader ecosystem at the same time Gemini users are reporting issues with AI generation.

Google Outage Today: Users Report Slow Performance, Login and Access Problems

Recent Google user reports show several different types of problems.

Slow speed of Google was reported by a user from America at 8:52 PM on October 8, while a different American user experienced difficulty in logging into his account at 8:00 PM while other users from different countries also reported issues. Inaccessibility issue was reported by a user from Japan at 6:26 PM, while another one from Belgium reported this same issue at 5:11 PM and New Zealand at 4:05 PM.

Other recent reports include a Google error from a US user at 5:39 AM and another login complaint from the United States at 4:22 AM.

The reports are spread across multiple locations, suggesting that the problems are not limited to a single country.

Google Gemini Down Today: AI Generation Is the Biggest Problem

While the broader Google reports include login and accessibility complaints, Gemini’s largest reported problem is AI generation.

The latest Gemini outage breakdown shows:

  • AI generation: 69%
  • Website: 13%
  • Application: 12%

The distribution suggests that many affected users can reach Gemini but encounter problems when they attempt to submit prompts or receive responses.

That distinction is important where a user may be able to open Google’s website or the Gemini application normally but still receive an error when trying to generate an answer.

Several users say the problem occurs repeatedly rather than with one particular prompt.

Google Down Today: Users Report Repeated Error Messages

Affected Gemini users have described repeated failures when attempting to complete ordinary requests.

One user reported repeatedly receiving the message, “I have encountered an error.”

Another said: “ALL requests state: I encountered an error doing what you asked. Could you try again?”

A separate report described Gemini as returning an error instead of completing requests.
