The international price of gold remained highly responsive to changes in the value of the US dollar, yield levels of the Treasuries and Federal Reserve policy expectations.

Gold prices for immediate delivery were around $4,139.89 per troy ounce and US gold futures stood at $4,156.80 per troy ounce on October 5. The prices moved lower by 0.1% each for the day as a strong dollar along with rising US Treasury yields kept gold under pressure due to the non-interest bearing nature of the metal.
