US-Israel-Iran War Latest Live News: A comment from Donald Trump about the Iran war has turned a Nebraska campaign rally into a fresh political clash with California. The US President mentioned Los Angeles and San Diego while discussing the cost of the conflict and the need to protect Americans, prompting immediate criticism from state and city leaders.

Trump told supporters in Grand Island, Nebraska, that higher prices linked to the war were a “small price to pay” for national security before saying Iran could “take out” a US city. He then specifically named Los Angeles and San Diego.

The remarks drew sharp responses from California Governor Gavin Newsom, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria. The White House later said Trump was not advocating an Iranian attack on American cities but was explaining why the US had acted against Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

Trump made the comments while speaking about the economic impact of the Iran war and the approaching November midterm elections.

He said, “It’s a small price to pay for keeping the world safe – keeping our country safe.”

Trump then added, “They can take out a city,” Trump said in Grand Island. “Let them take out Los Angeles. Let them take out San Diego.”

The crowd at the Nebraska rally applauded after the remarks.

Trump also said the war would end soon. His comments quickly drew attention because Los Angeles and San Diego are two of California’s largest cities, while San Diego also has major US military facilities. Newsom responded within hours, arguing that Trump’s remarks went beyond normal political rhetoric.

“After sending the National Guard and Marines to occupy California, Donald Trump is now saying our foreign enemies should ‘take out’ Los Angeles and San Diego,” the California governor, Gavin Newsom, said on X. “He is deranged and dangerous.”

Newsom later used the governor’s press office account to stress the potential impact of Trump’s words.

“Let’s be clear: The President is advocating for an attack on 10+ million U.S. residents in two of America’s largest cities. This is not normal. None of this is. And we will continue to remind folks of that every day.”

Newsom has repeatedly clashed with Trump over federal policy, immigration and the use of federal forces in California. The latest dispute comes just weeks before the November midterm elections.
