If you thought falling in love was complicated, wait until you see what happens when you have to do it without even seeing the other person! Love Is Blind is back for Season 11, and this time, the dating experiment has landed in Boston. The first five episodes are now streaming on Netflix, and the new season has already delivered awkward confessions, love triangles, emotional moments and a first meeting that did not exactly go according to plan.

For those who are new to the show, Love Is Blind brings together a group of single men and women who date each other without ever seeing one another. They talk through separate pods, build emotional connections and, if they find the person they want to spend their lives with, get engaged before meeting face to face. After that, they have to figure out whether their connection works in the real world before deciding if they want to get married.

Hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey, Season 11 features 30 singles from the Boston area. And while six couples have made it to the engagement stage in the first five episodes, the road to happily ever after is already looking a little complicated. Here are the biggest highlights from the opening batch.

Love Is Blind Season 11 Boston: John And Sarah’s Connection Gets Off To An Awkward Start

John Shannon and Sarah Williams appear to have a promising connection, bonding over their love of music and even Harry Potter. But things take an uncomfortable turn when John forgets to close his pod door after one of their dates.

Sarah overhears him talking about how she was among his bottom two picks. Ouch! It is not exactly the kind of confession anyone wants to hear while trying to find a future husband.

John later explains that he had misunderstood how interested Sarah was in him. The two manage to move past the incident, but their relationship soon gets into more serious territory. John opens up about his multiple sclerosis diagnosis, and the pair discuss topics such as vaccines, reproductive rights and healthcare.

Despite their differences, John appreciates Sarah’s willingness to challenge his views. He eventually proposes, and the two are happy with what they see when they finally meet. Their story proves that sometimes, the biggest drama starts with a door that should have been closed.

Love Is Blind Season 11 Boston: Wilson And Wilnie’s Romance Gets A Heartfelt Twist

Wilson and Wilnie build a strong connection in the pods, with their conversations turning towards family, relationships and the kind of future they want. However, Wilson is also getting to know Malaine, which briefly complicates matters.

When Malaine exits the experiment after her own connection falls apart, Wilnie shares something deeply personal with Wilson. She gives him her mother’s wedding band, hoping it could one day be passed down to their daughter.

The gesture clearly means a lot to Wilson. He opens up about his own struggles with feeling worthy of love and tells Wilnie that he will be happy regardless of what she looks like.
