Former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday (October 8, 2026) said that she may participate in the Cockroach Janta Party-sponsored protest demanding the removal of Gyanesh Kumar as Chief Election Commissioner at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on October 10.

Ms. Banerjee confirmed her presence at the October 10 gathering before leaving for Delhi while speaking to mediapersons in Kolkata.  “I may join the protest at Jantar Mantar scheduled for October 10, but nothing can be confirmed now. We have maintained a relationship with them (the CJP) and have extended our support...,” Ms. Banerjee said. The former West Bengal Chief Minister has expressed support to the CJP over the past few months and CJP leaders have thanked Ms. Banerjee for her support.
