Monsoon retreat begins in western Nepal

KATHMANDU: The monsoon has withdrawn from parts of western Nepal, according to the Weather Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

The Division issued a bulletin today, Saturday, stating that the 2026 monsoon has withdrawn from Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces, most parts of western Lumbini Province, and a few areas in western Gandaki Province.

According to the Division, the withdrawal was recorded on October 3, 2026, marking the beginning of the retreat of the monsoon from western parts of the country.
