Odell Beckham Jr. did not have to wait long for another NFL opportunity. Less than two weeks after the New York Giants released him following a disappointing second stint with the franchise, the veteran wide receiver has found a new home with the Minnesota Vikings.
The Vikings signed Beckham to their practice squad on Wednesday, giving the 33-year-old another chance to work his way back into an NFL offense. The move also brings Beckham back together with head coach Kevin O’Connell, who was the Los Angeles Rams’ offensive coordinator when Beckham helped the team win Super Bowl LVI.
The timing is also notable for Minnesota, with star wide receiver Justin Jefferson recovering from an ankle injury. Jefferson has missed the Vikings’ recent game after suffering the injury in Week 3, while Minnesota entered Week 5 with a 4-0 record.
Why Did The Minnesota Vikings Sign Odell Beckham Jr.?
Beckham gives the Minnesota Vikings another experienced option at wide receiver while also providing depth behind Jefferson. His signing does not immediately mean he will play on Sunday, however, as he has joined the practice squad rather than the active roster.
