In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on the alleged ‘dustbin scam’ in Bihar, the Patna High Court on Tuesday (October 6, 2026) fixed November 19 as the next date of hearing in the case. The court also granted the Bihar government a deadline to file a counter-affidavit in the case by November 3. A Division Bench of Chief Justice V. Kameswar Rao and Justice Harish Kumar is hearing the PIL, filed by Kaushalesh Kumar.

The ‘dustbin scam’, which went viral on social media via a video report August 2026, pertains to the alleged purchase of plastic dustbins of different sizes by the Bihar Medical Services and Infrastructure Corporation Limited (BMSICL) during the previous National Democratic Alliance (NDA) regime, when BJP leader Mangal Pandey was the State Health Minister, to collect biomedical waste in government hospitals, allegedly at an inflated estimated cost of ₹307 crore.
