Russia Plague News: Recently, some reports emerged that a second suspected case of the pneumonic plague was detected in Russia’s Siberia. Subsequently, the World Health Organisation (WHO) urged Russia to respond to its previous enquiry. Now Dmitry Peskov has called those reports as ‘false information’ amid fears of an outbreak in the country.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov recently spoke to reporters in Moscow. During the interaction, Peskov vehemently denied reports claiming that there is a second suspected case of pneumonic plague in Russia. 

“The vast majority of what the media is reporting regarding this situation is false information” Peskov said, when asked about the rumoured second case by a reporter.

He also stressed that people should rely on Russian health authority Rospotrebnadzor for all information.  “People should rely solely on official statements from Russian health watchdog Rospotrebnadzor,” he stated.
