Russian bombers have hit the eastern Ukrainian town of Kramatorsk, resulting in at least 33 deaths and 18 injuries, according to the Ukrainian officials. The raid hit the road that had two buses running, making it one of the deadliest individual incidents in the region in recent months.
The Donetsk regional administration revealed that the attack hit the buses and civilian infrastructure around it. The pictures have been published by the Ukrainian police revealing the severely damaged bus and dead bodies scattered on the littered street. The prosecutor’s office of the region has launched an investigation of the incident as a potential war crime. The first reports suggested 30 casualties of the bus attack with 18 injured, but later the number increased to 33 people dead, including three who died in Bilenke.

According to Ukrainian officials, the incident occurred when two passenger buses were moving in Kramatorsk. Initially, the Ukrainian National Police claimed that Russian UMPB D-30 SN bomb targeted the road in the city at about 10 am. Later on, the weapon used was referred to as a glide bomb. Additionally, the incident destroyed a residential building in the region.

The governor of Donetsk, Vadym Filashkin, stated that Russian forces had targeted civilian transportation intentionally and indicated that the incident demonstrated the dangers to passengers and drivers in the city.
“For Russia, a bus with people is an ideal target exactly because one shot will kill as many people as possible,” he said. “It deliberately ignores all possible war rules and international humanitarian law,” he added. “It selects its targets so as to make people suffer the most.”
