KATHMANDU: The tourism sector in Sauraha, Chitwan, is gradually recovering following disruptions caused by recent floods.
The natural disaster led to the closure of roads and park activities, resulting in a large number of hotel booking cancellations. With roads now reopened, tourist arrivals have started to pick up, offering a sense of optimism to local entrepreneurs.
Tourism entrepreneur Gunaraj Thapaliya noted that the situation is improving. While tourist arrivals were nearly stagnant during the floods, the reopening of access routes has brought a positive shift. ‘Things are getting better now. It was dire during the floods, but it is improving since the roads opened,’ Thapaliya said.
