The All India N.R. Congress (AINRC) has retained the Thattanchavady Assembly seat in Puducherry, with its candidate Ashok Anand winning the by-election by a margin of 8,482 votes. Anand received 13,358 votes, comfortably ahead of his nearest rival, E. Vinayagam of the Indian National Congress, who secured 4,876 votes.

The counting took place on October 9, 2026, following polling on October 6. The constituency recorded a voter turnout of 80.81%.
