Thane Police have detained two suspects for questioning in connection with the killing of Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Pradeep Purnekar, who was shot and assaulted at his office in Thane on Tuesday (September 29, 2026) night.

Purnekar, the party’s Thane vibhag pramukh, was attacked at around 9 p.m. in the Manpada area, under the jurisdiction of the Kapurbawdi police station. He sustained serious bullet injuries and was rushed to Infinity Hospital near R Mall on Ghodbunder Road, where he died during treatment.
