US Vice President JD Vance has questioned the decision-making structure inside Iran, saying Washington is not certain who ultimately has the authority to make major decisions as efforts to end the seven-month conflict continue.
In an interview with Reuters, Vance said the US is communicating with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, but questioned how much influence the two officials have over the country’s wider power structure.
The comments came after President Donald Trump also said that his “biggest problem” was that nobody knew who was running Iran.
