Syria is looking at the prospect of giving military aid to Saudi Arabia amid an escalation in the attack on Saudi Arabia by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthis through their drones and missiles, US and Syrian defence officials have told news agencies. Syria is considering providing defensive support to Saudi Arabia and sending its troops to support the troops of Saudi Arabia in Yemen in fighting the Houthis.
The participation of Syrian forces is part of the escalating civil war in Yemen as the US-Iran tension brings more tension in the region. Saudi Arabia is appealing for help from some of its allied countries because of the Houthi attacks that are now targeting its cities.
At least three deaths have been reported in recent attacks carried out at Saudi airports in the past few days. While one death occurred in an attack conducted at Riyadh Airport, two more deaths took place in an attack on Abha airport, which is located in south-western Saudi Arabia.

On Thursday, some loud explosions were heard in Riyadh; however, the cause of these explosions was still not known. While some diplomats had reportedly received warnings, schools in Riyadh told the parents to stay put and avoid going out.
The Houthis further claimed in a statement on Thursday that they had carried out an attack using a ballistic missile on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.

US and Syrian authorities have claimed that Damascus is looking at a variety of military assistance measures for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They include everything from defense assistance against the threat of missiles and drones to Syria deploying its forces in coordination with Saudi-supported Yemeni forces.
