Chris Appleton has become the first celebrity to leave Strictly Come Dancing 2026. The celebrity hairstylist and his professional partner Amy Dowden were eliminated after losing the first dance-off of the series against Jaime Winstone and Carlos Gu.
The first elimination came after Movie Week, which saw all 15 couples take part in the themed show before the competition’s first results night. Chris and Amy found themselves in the bottom two alongside Jaime and Carlos after the judges’ scores from the opening two weeks were combined with the public vote.
Both couples had to perform again in Sunday’s results show, with Chris and Amy dancing a Cha Cha to I’ll Be Ready from Baywatch. Jaime and Carlos performed their Cha Cha to Oh, Pretty Woman from Pretty Woman.

Chris Appleton and Amy Dowden were eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing 2026. Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke all voted to save Jaime Winstone and Carlos Gu, meaning Chris and Amy became the first couple to leave the series.
Craig Revel Horwood had the casting vote but did not need to use it, as the other three judges had already unanimously chosen Jaime and Carlos. Craig confirmed that he would also have saved Jaime and Carlos had his vote been required.
