Vietnam Stock Market Today: This morning, Vietnam’s benchmark index of VNI opened in red by 0.75%. While Hanoi’s HNX index also reported losses of 1.32% during the market opening. The fall seems to be triggered by weakness in large cap stocks, a highly cautious investor sentiment and low market breadth.

Why is Vietnam’s Stock Market Down Today?

Vietnamese equities are under fresh selling pressure today, as the HNX Index dropped 1.32% to 262.02, while the VN-Index (VNI) slipped 0.75% to 1,745.92 following Tuesday’s rebound. The softness stems from investors staying cautious after a volatile prior session, with widespread market declines, weak sentiment and persistent foreign selling dragging on stocks. The steeper fall in the HNX Index also suggests that selling pressure is spreading beyond Vietnam’s large-cap stocks.
