By Sher Bahadur Sarki, Bajura, Oct. 4: Children at several schools in Bajura have recently started organising exhibitions of dishes prepared from locally grown food products on their school premises.
The initiative began after local governments introduced local curricula at the basic level aimed at conserving, promoting and increasing the production of indigenous crops in the district.
Local governments prepared the curricula after indigenous crops in Bajura were found to be at risk of disappearing.
Malika Secondary School said it had recently been encouraging students to organise exhibitions of local food dishes at school to help them learn about the conservation and promotion of indigenous crops, as well as the nutritional value and different dishes that can be prepared from them, in line with the local curriculum.
