Flydubai Co-Pilot Attack Live Update: A routine Dubai-to-Tel Aviv flight turned into a desperate fight for control at cruising altitude on September 30, when an Omani co-pilot allegedly attacked Indian Captain Smit Machchhar inside the cockpit and tried to take over the Boeing 737. A new reconstruction has now raised another alarming possibility: after his reported plan to crash the aircraft into a Tel Aviv skyscraper appeared to fail, the co-pilot may have attempted to shut down both engines.
The latest details come from an investigation by Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, which reconstructed the incident using passenger accounts, crew reports, aviation data and videos recorded inside the aircraft. The report said the plane lost around 16,000 feet in roughly 30 seconds during the chaos.
The claims add another layer to an incident that has already triggered a terrorism investigation involving authorities in the UAE, Israel and Saudi Arabia.

Flydubai Co-Pilot Attack Live Update: What Happened on Flydubai Flight FZ1073?
Flydubai Flight FZ1073 was travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv with 174 passengers and six crew members when the cockpit attack allegedly began.
The co-pilot, identified by multiple reports as 29-year-old Omani national Hammam al-Hammami, allegedly attacked Captain Machchhar with the aircraft’s emergency crash axe. The UAE has said the co-pilot attacked the captain and attempted to take control of the aircraft, describing the incident as a terrorist attack while investigators continue to examine the motive and circumstances.
Machchhar suffered serious injuries but managed to help open the cockpit door. That allowed crew members and passengers to enter the flight deck and overpower the attacker.
Two off-duty flydubai pilots travelling as passengers also helped take control of the aircraft after the cockpit struggle.
