KATHMANDU: Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal called for accessible, grant-based climate financing and the swift operationalization of the international Loss and Damage Fund today, emphasizing that climate shocks have become a severe structural barrier to Nepal’s national development.
Addressing the inaugural Kathmandu Climate Week 2026 under the theme “Climate Justice for Building Climate Resilience to Global Climate Diplomacy,” Khanal highlighted Nepal’s disproportionate vulnerability despite generating under 0.1 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions.
