By Our Correspondent, Dang, Oct. 7: The Lumbini Provincial Government has introduced an action plan to reform the health system, prioritising the improvement of healthcare quality, electronic health records, effective utilisation of hospital equipment, patient referral systems, medicine production, and financial discipline.
Following a provincial-level annual review of health programmes implemented in the fiscal year 2082/83, the provincial government issued the 13-point “Deukhuri Declaration,” pledging to address issues within the healthcare sector. The declaration prioritises streamlining and enhancing the effectiveness of the existing health system over launching new programmes.
Expanding electronic systems in healthcare has been highlighted as a key reform. Plans include formulating a provincial digital health roadmap and establishing electronic health record systems in hospitals and Ayurvedic centres under provincial jurisdiction. Existing electronic health information systems at local-level health institutions will also be further expanded.
There is a plan to develop an electronic information portal for primary healthcare services by integrating data collected from health institutions.
