KATHMANDU: A total of 788 climbers from 70 countries have obtained permits to climb 31 mountains in Nepal during the autumn climbing season of 2026.
According to the Department of Tourism, the climbers are part of 91 expedition teams. Of the total climbers, 582 are men and 206 are women. The department has collected Rs 247.27 million in royalties from the climbing permits.
Among the mountains for which permits have been issued, Manaslu (8,163 metres) has attracted the highest number of climbers. A total of 500 climbers from 43 teams have received permits to climb Manaslu, generating Rs 225.86 million in royalties.
