Prachanda lauds Gagan Thapa’s Nepali Congress takeover

KATHMANDU: Nepali Communist Party Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has stated that Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa broke the sequence of continuity in the party leadership and moved it toward a new history.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the 15th General Convention of the Nepali Congress, Prachanda congratulated Gagan Thapa and said he had already foreseen Thapa’s potential to lead.

Recalling the time Thapa served as Health Minister during his own tenure as Prime Minister, Prachanda expressed happiness over Thapa’s political journey.

“Congratulations to Gagan. Gagan possesses the capacity to lead. I had mentioned before that a situation where he could lead this nation might eventually arise. Today, I am witnessing that very moment,” Prachanda said.

He noted that Thapa assuming the Congress leadership amid challenging political circumstances is in itself a “break in continuity”.
