Quebec Election 2026: Voters across Canada’s Quebec province are currently casting their ballots. And according to the preliminary leads, the Parti Québécois is leading. In the days leading up to the polls, party leader St. Pierre-Plamondon promised to conduct a referendum in the French-speaking province that’s noticeably different from the rest of Canada.  

Quebec Election 2026 Latest News: Voting Currently Underway in Canada’s Francophone Province

Residents across Canada’s Quebec are casting their ballots in the provincial election, with voting now in progress. Polling stations began welcoming voters at 9:30 P.M. local time and will stay open until 8 P.M. EDT. 

Voters are selecting representatives in the province’s 125 electoral districts, and preliminary results are anticipated to appear soon after the polls shut. About 1.6 million voters had already taken part in advance voting, which amounts to 25.59% of registered voters, offering an early sign of turnout before election day.

The separatist  Parti Québécois, headed by St. Pierre-Plamondon, is currently leading against the other bloc according to early leads. However, this could easily change as the polling process makes progress. Plamondon himself highlighted that there are multiple candidates in the tightly watched race, that could transform the French-speaking province’s future.
