Taiwan’s benchmark TAIEX index extended its winning streak on Monday, climbing 1,190 points, or around 2.5%, to touch 49,666 during morning trading. The index crossed the 49,000 level for the first time, marking its fourth consecutive session of gains.
The rally was led by technology and manufacturing stocks, with investor sentiment boosted by strength in US technology shares and expectations that softer US employment data could reduce pressure for further monetary tightening by the Federal Reserve.
