By Our Correspondent, Nagoya, Oct. 3: Professional golfer Subash Tamang remains in contention heading into the final round of the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, offering a late boost as Nepal’s campaign at the continental multi-sport event draws to a close.

China lead the overall medal standings with 162 gold medals, followed by hosts Japan in second with 70. Nepal have secured two bronze medals so far.

Out of 45 participating nations, 40 have won medals, placing Nepal 36th.

With two days of competition remaining, Tamang carded a one-over-par 71 in the third round to leave himself tied for 14th place on a three-round total of two-under 208.

Having opened with an even-par 70 and followed up with a three-under 67, he sits 10 strokes behind the tournament leader, South Korea’s Kim Joo-hyung, ahead of Saturday’s final round.
