KATHMANDU: A new study suggests that energy policies implemented during the second term of US President Donald Trump could lead to increased energy costs for American families in the coming years. According to an analysis by a non-partisan research organization, households in the contiguous United States could face an average of 6,500 USD in additional energy expenses by 2040.
The study indicates that families in states such as Oregon, Mississippi, South Dakota, Virginia, and Wyoming may incur approximately 9,000 USD in additional costs during this period. Researchers suggest that the Trump administration’s decision to reduce support for clean energy projects and shift policies away from promoting electric and low-emission vehicles could increase demand for natural gas and gasoline, putting upward pressure on energy prices.
