UK Stock Market Forecast Today (October 5, 2026): FTSE 100 is expected to open up on Monday, October 5, after lower than expected jobs numbers in the US have lowered expectations for an interest rate hike from the Federal Reserve. The performance of the FTSE 100 has been quite poor and recorded its worst performance week since April.

UK Stock Market Forecast Today: FTSE 100 Set for Higher Open

The FTSE 100 index ended its trading last Friday at 10,461.95, up by 33.68 points or 0.32%. However, the FTSE 100 dropped by 2.2% over the week, making it the largest drop seen since April because of a government bond selloff, which made the yields rise. According to IG futures, the FTSE 100 is forecasted to open on Monday at 10,492.55, up by 30.6 points or 0.3%.

The primary factor that acts as a bullish catalyst for the world markets is the latest employment situation in the US. Employment in the US grew by just 29,000 in September, and the unemployment rate was 4.2%.
