The Golden State Valkyries are one win away from reaching the WNBA Finals after edging the Las Vegas Aces 83-81 in a dramatic Game 2 of their playoff semifinal series on Wednesday. Veronica Burton delivered the decisive moment, knocking down a go-ahead 3-pointer with 41.5 seconds remaining to put the Valkyries back in front after the Aces had staged a late comeback.
Las Vegas had trailed by as many as 16 points before A’ja Wilson’s layup gave the Aces their first lead of the night with 1:36 remaining. Golden State responded immediately through Gabby Williams before Burton’s long-range shot restored the Valkyries’ advantage. Kiah Stokes then came up with the biggest defensive play of the night, blocking Chelsea Gray’s point-blank attempt with 1.3 seconds left to secure the victory.

The Valkyries appeared to have the game under control after opening up a 66-50 lead with 1:08 left in the third quarter. But the Aces mounted a stunning comeback and eventually moved ahead 76-74 through Wilson’s layup.
Williams quickly answered with a 14-footer to tie the game at 76-76.
