The final chapter of the Asian Games 2026 will unfold in Japan on Sunday, October 4, as the closing ceremony brings the continental sporting extravaganza to an end. After more than two weeks of competition across 43 sports, 71 disciplines, and 459 medal events, officials will gather at the Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium for the concluding celebrations, the parade of athletes and the formal handover marking the end of the Games.
India will be represented by double gold medallist shooter Neeru Dhanda as the country’s flag-bearer at the ceremony. India finished fourth in the final medal standings with 85 medals, 21 gold, 27 silver and 37 bronze, rounding off a campaign that featured memorable performances in shooting, archery, athletics, wrestling and team sports.
The ceremony is expected to bring together sporting achievement and the cultural identity of the host regions, Aichi and Nagoya, before attention turns to the next edition of the Asian Games in Doha, Qatar, in 2030.
