By Arjun Kafle, Syangja, Oct. 6: Road connectivity between Syangja and Gulmi, disrupted after continuous rainfall and flooding washed away a truss bridge over the Kaligandaki River, has been restored through an alternative route.
The flood on September 27 swept away the concrete bridge connecting Mirmi in Kaligandaki Rural Municipality-7 of Syangja with Harmichaur in Kaligandaki Rural Municipality-1 of Gulmi, bringing travel between the two districts to a halt. Connectivity was restored nine days after the disruption.
Following an all-party discussion involving representatives of the District Administration Offices of Syangja and Gulmi, employees of the Kaligandaki ‘A’ Hydropower Station and locals, it was decided to use the dam and tunnel as an alternative route for light vehicles.
